My Mindful Kinetics Program was born from efforts to heal myself. As a principal ballerina and prodigy of George Ballanchine's New York City Ballet, I placed tremendous demands on my body, and depended upon it not only for my livelihood but for the source of my life's passion -- dance.
At the age of 19 I became a professional dancer; at 20 a soloist. It was at the age of 21 that I experienced my first serious injury. In 1973, to address that injury, I was introduced to Carola Trier, the first disciple of Joseph Pilates. Working personally with Trier, I was able to heal my injury -- in fact, I ended up even stronger than I was before and went on to become a principal ballerina.
Then, in 1986, I suffered another debilitating injury, to my back and knee, which lasted three years. Working directly with Julio Horvath, the creator of the Gyrotronic Expansion System®, I was able to heal the back injury, but was left with the continuing knee problem. After the failure of doctors and physical therapists to heal me, I drew upon my own training and educated myself about body mechanics and the kinesiology of rehabilitation. Using The Mindful Kinetics Program I designed, I surprised my doctors with a quick and complete recovery that again left me stronger than before. During that time, I delved deeply into the magic that happens when the science of fitness meets the soul of dance. Certified by the American College of Sports Medicine (ASCM) and a Certified Pilates Instructor, I am fully versed in the physiology of human musculature. These therapeutic elements are present in every workout I create.
Whether your goal is to recover from an injury, prevent injury, or simply create a stronger body with proper alignment, The Mindful Kinetics Program can help.
